Palate freshner.

Alexanderfontein is the entry-level label of Darling producer Ormonde Private Cellar. Approximately 300ha under vineyard and a lot of that is Sauvignon Blanc, the  the Alexanderfontein version established as the quintessential South African expression of the variety in recent times – clean, fresh and cheap.

The 2012 is R40 a bottle and shows lime and greengage plus a slight herbaceous note. The acidity is lively to the point of severe. Chill it right down and serve as an aperitif. Score: 15/20.
