Boplaas Cape Tawny Vintner’s Reserve

Seamless and subtle.

Seamless and subtle.

Boplaas Cape Tawny Vintner’s Reserve (W.O. Western Cape) comes highly decorated – double gold at Veritas 2013 and trophy for best entry overall at the Cape Port Producers Association Port & Wine Challenge 2013.

From Tinta Barocca, aged 12 years in large old oak barrels with a further two years in tank prior to bottling, it shows apricot, orange and a sprinkle of spice. Light, fresh and elegant. So elegant in fact that I wondered if it wasn’t a bit short of grunt but a 375ml bottle (R150) lasted only two nights and the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say…

Score: 90/100.
