Back to the future.

A small portion of Cinsaut is used in the innovative red blend called called Adama from Bosman Family Vineyards and now winemaker Corlea Fourie has made a single variety version available exclusively to members of the property’s wine club (see here).

From the 2012 vintage, the wine shows red and black berries, spice and that gentle perfume typical of the variety. It’s very ripe with plenty of plush fruit but also enough acidity and tannic structure to prevent it from becoming facile. It worked well enough paired with a chicken wrap for supper but I’d like to see what would happen if Fourie and team made a wine from grapes picked a little earlier.

Score: 86/100.
