Lie back and think of Vouvray.

Lie back and think of Vouvray.

Among a small range of imported wines now offered by Joostenberg Deli on the outskirts of Stellenbosch is the Catherine et Pierre Breton Vouvray La Dilettante 2012 at R270 a bottle. The Bretons describe themselves as “producers of natural, organic and biodynamic wines” in the Bourgueil, Chinon and Vouvray appellations and this is super stuff.

Peach and pineapple, a hint of nuttiness and some yeasty complexity. Fruity upfront before a wonderfully piquant finish. Our bottle didn’t last very long.

Score: 89/100.
