Chateau Lafite Rothschild

Decanter.com reports that Pauillac first growth Chateau Lafite Rothschild has released a first tranche of its 2009 en primeur wine at €550 a bottle. That’s the equivalent of approximately R5 000 a bottle at the current exchange rate. With the 2007 vintage of Kanonkop Paul Sauer due for release on 1 July at R310 a bottle, this puts local wine prices in perspective.
