Does what it says on the tin.

Does what it says on the tin.

The Very Sexy Shiraz 2010 from Cloof in Darling won gold at this year’s Syrah du Monde, and I have to say, I think it’s an entirely credible achievement. From vineyards planted in 1999, the wine was matured for 12 months in French oak, 33% new. Cellar price: R75 a bottle.

Very aromatic with red and black fruit, smoked meat and pepper. Good concentration, fresh acidity and fine tannins. Balanced, lithe and dry, it offers genuine refreshment. Real bang for your buck.

Score: 90/100.

Saw it in the top 20 finalists of the new SA Shiraz Challenge as well, great to see consistency. Keen to sample a bottle.

Agree CE. A long time fave for big family functions where Value for money is a key criterion. Consistently punches above its weight. Well spotted!
