Delaire Graff Coastal Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Precision engineering.

The Coastal Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2015 from Delaire Graff won gold at this year’s Concours Mondial du Sauvignon Blanc, the third time this wine has done so in the competition’s seven-year history.

It’s smart stuff. Grapes were sourced from Stellenbosch, Durbanville, Darling and Franschhoek and the final wine includes a 5% portion of Semillon, fermented in new oak.

Very expressive on the nose and palate with the whole gamut of Sauvignon Blanc descriptors in evidence: fresh herbs, lime, granadilla, pineapple and even a little blackcurrant. Excellent fruit definition, nice palate weight as a result of five months on the lees and plenty of refreshment factor thanks to bright but not aggressive acidity. An great advertisement for the variety. Price: R135 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 93/100.
