Soaring.

Soaring.

My stand-out wine among the 20 finalists for the Shiraz SA Wine Challenge which (inevitably?) failed to place among the 12 winners was the Shiraz 2011 from Eagles’ Nest in Constantia (R225 a bottle). Lovely range of aromatics and flavour – red and black fruit, pepper and spice. Weightless intensity and just that little bit tighter and fresher than the 2010 (reviewed here).

Score: 94/100.
