Summer quaffing.

Summer quaffing.

Though the back label of the First Sighting Sauvignon Blanc 2013 (R64 a bottle) from Elim cellar Strandveld promises green pepper and asparagus, these are thankfully not too much in evidence. Sauvignon from this part of the world can present as super-green but the First Sighting 2013 which includes 15% Semillon appears optimally ripe – white peach with just a little spicy bite on the finish. Ideal as an uncomplicated aperitif on a hot summer’s day.

Score: 85/100.
