Old school is cool.

For lunch yesterday, a prego roll and chips at legendary Stellenbosch pub De Akker with a bottle of Fleur du Cap Cabernet Sauvignon 1999. Dark fruit and entirely appropriate tertiary notes on nose and palate. Medium bodied with fresh acidity, fine tannins. Score: 15/20. Perhaps not life-changing but really pleasurable, the more so because it costs a mere R60 a bottle from the Fine Wine Shop at Die Bergkelder.
