Flotsam & Jetsam Chenin Blanc 2017

Mopping up operation.

Chris and Suzaan Alheit of Alheit Vineyards have spent much time searching for interesting old Chenin Blanc vineyards to supply their first-label wines, anything not quite up to scratch ending up under the Flotsam & Jetsam label. The resulting wine typically offers extraordinary quality relative to value, tasting notes and rating for the 2017 as follows:

Flotsam & Jetsam Chenin Blanc 2017
Wine Cellar price: R145 a bottle
Lime, white peach and some leesy complexity  on the nose. Great fruit concentration and flavour intensity, zingy acidity, the finish long and savoury.

Editor’s rating: 93/100.

The Alheit’s skill has obviously trumped challenging 2017 conditions in the Swartland and surrounds. Looking forward to their other wines. Seems that some farms around the Cape had stellar 2017 vintages.
