C'mon summer!

C’mon summer!

The Sauvignon Blanc from Hidden Valley in Stellenbosch (R80 a bottle) exhibits some smart viticulture and winemaking. Grapes were harvested at different levels of ripeness and while this can lead to a somewhat awkward end result, here it works well with the wine showing peach, green melon and just a touch of pyrazine bite on the finish. With good palate weight and zippy acidity, it’s a stylish offering. Abv 13.5%, RS 3.4 g/l, TA 7.04g/l, ph 2.98.

Score: 88/100.
