Holden Manz Avant-Garde Collection Chardonnay 2012

Innocuous.

Innocuous.

Franschhoek cellar Holden Manz has attempted a top-end white in the form of the Avant-Garde Collection Chardonnay 2012. From Elgin fruit, it was barrel fermented in a combination of new and used French oak and matured for a further 10 months.

I found delicate citrus and light oak on the nose and palate. Inoffensive but a bit plain, especially given the price of R160 a bottle.

Score: 85/100.
