Va-va-voom!

Last night the annual White Wine Review hosted by Cape Town retailer Caroline’s Fine Wine Cellar at the Table Bay Hotel.  A stand-out wine for me was the Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from Iona in Elgin.

Harvest was late by South African standards, stretching from mid-March to early April and the benefits of this are clear with the wine showing plenty of properly ripe fruit.

A lovely nose of predominantly grapefruit but also blossom, lime and granadilla plus some pleasant reduction.

The palate, meanwhile, is full but balanced. It’s a very sexy wine with great purity and freshness. Caroline’s Fine Wine Cellar price: R140

Score: 92/100.

Thank you Christian, yes it was a great vintage for us and the concentration from vine age coming through!
