KWV The Mentors Chenin Blanc 2012

Whizzy.

Whizzy.

Slick in the best way: 65% Paarl, 35% Swartland grapes.  Various forms of vinfication – some spontaneous fermentation and some inoculated, some barrel maturation and some tank.

Pear and white peach through to pineapple plus spice – good fruit concentration, good flavour intensity, bright acidity. Clever use of oak and lees contact adding weight but not too much and extra nuance. Still very primary, this wine should be drink well from 2015 onwards. Price: R120 a bottle.

Score: 90/100.
