Uncommon.

Uncommon.

Does an unusual location make for more unusual wine? Lismore is situated outside Greyton in the Southern Cape and the Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is a definitely a little quirky.

Lime, green melon and granadilla upfront, some white pepper and vanilla on the tail. It appears pleasantly thick textured and quite broad on the palate – concentrated fruit and a certain leesy quality in evidence with tangy acidity lending balance. Not exactly typical but plenty of interest. Wine Cellar price: R135 a bottle.

Score: 90/100.
