Marras Piekenierskloof Grenache 2016

Trouble free.

Martin Lamprecht, incumbent at Voor Paardeberg property Dorran Vineyards, also has his own label known as Marras Wines, sourcing grapes from both Piekenierskloof and the Swartland.

His Piekenierskloof Grenache 2016 was cold soaked for three days where most of the extraction took place, then partially spontaneously fermented and matured in older oak for 10 months. The nose shows cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry while the palate is pure and fresh with a gently savoury finish. Great fun to drink if not super-complex. Approximate retail price: R80 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 88/100.
