Miles Mossop Max 2012

Beefy.

Tokara winemaker Miles Mossop has a range of own-label wines named after his children, son Max providing the moniker for the Bordeaux-style red blend.

The 2012 will seduce many. A blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 24% Petit Verdot, maturation lasted 22 months in French oak barrels, 42% new. It shows black fruit and a touch of mint plus oak-derived vanilla and chocolate. It’s rich, full and flavoursome – luscious and ripe on entry, the acidity bright enough and the tannins rather firm. It’s no shrinking violet and nor should it be with an price of R253 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
