Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2015
From two Paardeberg vineyards, 39 and 43 years old. A hint of reduction plus pear, white peach and wild herbs. The palate is lean and angular – very fresh with a pithy finish.
Mullineux Quartz “Leliefontein” Chenin Blanc 2015
From a 34-year-old Kasteelberg vineyard. A very expressive nose – again a hint of reduction as well as dried herbs and talcum powder before peach, naartjie and spice. On the palate, pure fruit and fresh acidity before a long, dry finish – lovely composure.
Mullineux Granite Syrah 2014
From a 21-year-old Paardeberg vineyard. Matured for 12 months in 500-litre barrels, 25% new followed by 12 months in foudre. Red fruit, violets and lilies plus plenty of spice. Quite lean on the palate with fresh acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and particularly savoury.
Mullineux Schist “Roundstone” Syrah 2014
From a 18-year-old Kasteelberg vineyard. Matured for 12 months in 500-litre barrels, 25% new followed by 12 months in foudre. An enchanting nose of red and black fruit, flowers and scrub. The palate has great delineation and poise – pure fruit, fresh acidity and very fine tannins.
