Muratie in Stellenbosch recently released new vintages. Tasting notes and scores as follows:

Muratie Isabella Chardonnay 2012
Approximate retail price: R95
Lemon and orange, some yeasty complexity, attractive oak. Rich and hearty with coated acidity before a savoury finish.

87

Muratie George Paul Canitz Pinot Noir 2011
Approximate retail price: R165
Red cherry and some musky perfume on the nose. Sweet fruit, moderate acidity and soft tannins. Readily approachable but not particularly nuanced.

85

Muratie Ronnie Melck Shiraz 2010
Approximate retail price: R120
Red and black fruit as well as spice typical of the variety. Medium- to full-bodied with fresh acidity and firm but fine tannins. Particularly primary – a good sign.
