"Interesing bouquet."

Is Neethlingshof Short Story Collection The Six Flowers 2012 baby Nederburg Ingenuity White? Six Flowers only has six varieties compared to Ingenuity’s eight but at R80 from the farm comes in at precisely half the price.

Six Flowers is a blend of 30% Chardonnay, 30% Chenin Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Viognier, 5% Gewürztraminer and 5% Riesling, matured for eight months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak, 100% new. The flower depicted on the label belonging to the Hesperantha family, part of the Renosterveld indigenous to the Western Cape and in line with the property’s general “eco-friendly” packaging.

Honeysuckle from the Chenin, rose petal from the Gewürz, citrus and white peach, vanilla and spice on the nose while the palate shows nice weight and moderate acidity. It’s got personality but still needs a year or so to come in to its own. Score: 16.5/20
