Countdown to the 2013 Value Awards

RamsayMedia is on the hunt for South Africa’s best value wines ‚ wines that offer the best quality at less than R80 per 750ml (bottle, box or jug).

With the competition now into its thirteenth year, the challenge is to enter your best-value wines for assessment by some of South Africa’s best wine judges.

Wineries will receive great exposure if they are amongst the top rated wines and Value Award winners, which are the wines that receive 2 ¬Ω stars or more. Essentially we are offering free marketing for those wines offering the most enjoyment at less than R80 per 750ml, regardless of the type of packaging.

Full results of the 2013 Value Awards will be published in the 2013 Best Value Wine Guide (on sale from end-August 2012). A whopping 80 000 copies of the guide will be distributed this year. Value seekers can also expect extensive coverage on the guide from both Getaway magazine and winemag.co.za.

There’s no downside: the identity of those wines not selected as the best of the bunch won’t be disclosed in the tasting report. The objective of the competition is to showcase the pick of the crop when it comes to value for money at less than R80 a bottle.

Closing date for entry forms: Friday 1 JUNE 2012

There’s no restriction as to the type or style of wines entered, no limit to the number of entries per producer, and a relatively small price to pay: a few bottles (alternatively boxes or jugs) of wine for judging purposes, and a small entry fee per wine entered. You’ve got nothing to lose ‚ except the opportunity to be ranked among the country’s best value-for-money wines selling ex-cellar or in liquor stores at less than R80 a bottle (750ml).

Judging will take place in June, with the award winners to be announced on 27 August 2012.
