Pascal Jolivet Pouilly-Fumé 2011

Curvaceous.

Curvaceous.

Post the recent exploratory tasting of leading South African Sauvignon Blanc held at Klein Constantia, leading Sancerre producer Pascal Jolivet presented two of his own wines, his basic Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Here, the striking thing was how much less angular the wines were compared to the local stuff.

Pascal Jolivet Pouilly-Fumé 2011 A note of citrus blossom on the nose. Lime with the first signs of mushroom-like developed character on the palate. Great fruit delineation and bright acidity.

Score: 89/100.

Pascal Jolivet Sancerre 2012 Peach on the nose and palate. Good intensity, coated acidity but generally straightforward.

Score: 86/100.
