Penhill Two Palms Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2015

Tree-mendous.

Conradie Penhill Artisanal Wines is a boutique winery based at the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains in the Nuy Valley, situated between Worcester and Robertson.  The company, created in January 2015, is a partnership between Gareth and Kate Penny, owners of guesthouse Penhill Manor, and C.P. Conradie, previously of Conradie Family Vineyards.

The Penhill Two Palms Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2015 is WO Western Cape so draw your own conclusions about the origin of the grapes [according to subsequent correspondence: 45% Darling Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Elim Sauvignon Blanc and15% Durbanville Semillon] . In any event, it offers good quality relative to price at R84.95 a bottle. On the nose, pear and apple as well as a vague floral note, dried herbs and a little spice. The palate, meanwhile, shows pure fruit and a pleasantly creamy texture before a savoury finish. It’s not super-intense but well balanced and nicely observed overall.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
