The produce of Swartland property Meerhof went under the Antebellum label for a while and then Antebellum became Redelinghuys Family Wines and what you’ll now find in the marketplace from winemaker and motoring enthusiast Herman Redelinghuys is Petrolhead. Tasting notes and ratings for the most recent releases as follows:

Petrolhead White Blend 2016
Price: R250
65% Chenin Blanc, 35% Semillon. Deep yellow in colour. The nose shows orange, cut apple, stone fruit and spice. Rich and flavourful on the palate with tangy acidity and a nicely savoury finish. Pleasantly rustic in style.

#Editor’s rating: 91/100.

Petrolhead Red Blend 2016

Pedal to the metal.

Petrolhead Red Blend 2016
Price: R250
75% Syrah, 15% Cinsaut, 10% Mourvèdre. Intensely aromatic with notes of fynbos and flowers before red and black fruit. Pure and fresh on the palate – good fruit concentration, lemon-like acidity and nicely grippy tannins. Well balanced and really tightly knit.

#Editor’s rating: 93/100.
