Rietvallei JMB Cabernet Franc 2013
By Christian Eedes, 28 October 2016
Cabernet Franc devotees shouldn’t overlook the JMB 2013 from Rietvallei in Robertson. Matured for 26 months in 100% new oak, it’s none too slight but in the end works very well. On the nose, red and black fruit, a herbaceous note in the best sense plus pencil shavings and oak spice. The palate is intensely flavoured without being too weighty – very good fruit definition, bright acidity and crunchy tannins. Approximate retail price: R295 a bottle.
