Not going down without a fight.

Rijk’s in Tulbagh is increasingly dedicated to Chenin Blanc when it comes to whites and Pinotage and Shiraz when it comes to reds but quite a few other wines have featured in the range in the past. Last night, Rijk’s Fascination 2006, a blend of 58% Semillon and 42% Sauvignon Blanc, WO Coastal.

It was rich and broad with notes of honey and some nuttiness which come with bottle-age but still some citrus bite on the finish. Though past its best, it appears to be in gentle decline rather than free-fall. Score: 15.5/20.
