Sequillo, Eben Sadie’s separate venture to Sadie Family Wines, is being wrapped up with the 2014 vintage. Tasting notes and scores as follows:

Sequillo White 2014
Wine Cellar price: R169
From Chenin Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Viognier, Verdellho and Palomino. White peach, yellow apple and a curious hint of reduction. Ripe and weighty and arguably lacking some tension. Not nearly as compelling as the previous vintage.

Score: 89/100.

Sequillo Red 2014
Wine Cellar price: R169
From Syrah, Cinsault and Tinta Barocca. Very expressive on the nose with blue and black fruit, purple flowers, fynbos and spice. Good concentration, bright acidity and properly ripe tannins – really well balanced and just so drinkable.

Score: 92/100.
