The second annual Shiraz SA Challenge 2014 sponsored by Berthomieu Tonnellerie attracted 193 single variety and Shiraz-based blends. Results as follows (my scores in brackets):

    And what were your top-scoring wines, Christian?

      Pretty good effort on the part of the official panel but I think Eagles’ Nest Shiraz 2011 (my score: 94/100) and Ernie Els Proprietor’s Syrah 2012 (90/100) might have got a look-in. As for the blends, I thought Creation Syrah Grenache 2012 (90/100) and Saronsberg Full Circle 2011 (91/100) where more than alright.
