Simonsig Mr Borio’s Shiraz 2011

Bullet-proof.

Bullet-proof.

Mr Borio’s Shiraz from Simonsig in Stellenbosch has always offered bang for your buck and the 2011 vintage at R70 a bottle doesn’t disappoint. On the nose, red and black fruit, some pepper and a slight coffee note. The palate shows good fruit concentration, bright acidity and smooth tannins. There’s an impression of sweetness but this is crowd-pleasing stuff not to be over-analysed.

Score: 86/100
