Yesterday the launch of the 2014 edition of the Best Value Wine Guide sponsored by Ultra Liquors. Wines have to sell for R80 or under and then rate 2½ Stars or better to be included in the book and 472 out of 931 submitted made the cut.
At the function, a Méthode Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs under Ultra’s own label Table Bay impressed. Citrus and pronounced brioche, rich and full with a creamy mousse, it costs R69.99 and picked up a rating of 4½ Stars. Who made it? “From a reputable producer in Robertson” is all the guide reveals so I’m guessing Bon Courage or Graham Beck.
