Tamboerskloof Syrah 2013

Hips don’t lie.

The style for the Tamboerskloof Syrah as made by Gunter Schultz at Stellenbosch property is now well established: plenty of fruit power but not glib or simplistic.

The newly released 2013 (R165 a bottle) includes 4% Mourvèdre and 1% Viognier, maturation lasting 20 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, 15% new.

The nose is particularly demonstrative with red and black fruit, a floral note plus pepper and spice. The palate meanwhile is fruity and fleshy and very flavourful, just enough freshness and the tannins quite soft. An luxuriant drinking experience.

#WinemagRating: 90/100.
