The Old Vine Series Mev. Kirsten 2015

Grand dame.

This wine is produced from Chenin Blanc vineyards in Stellenbosch considered to be the oldest in the country, having been planted during the years of 1905 to 1920. The 2015 is deep in colour, the nose showing white and yellow peach, naartjie and orange, bee’s wax and honey plus a little earthiness. The palate is rich and thick textured – very concentrated, even slightly ponderous. A particular wine from a very particular site. Wine Cellar price: R775 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 93/100.

Christian, I see on the “I am old” site there is a vineyard owned by Mrs. Kirsten that was planted in 1942. Is this the same vineyard? I’m guessing the site works on the SAWIS records and they aren’t always accurate. Anyone know?
