No fakes at Kanonkop! Whilst it appears we do more od some R&D is very much part of our strategy. I think we were the first producer worldwide to do screwcaps for a premium wine. Some 600 bottles were put under this closure and when WINE MAGAZINE (SA) did a vertical of Paul Sauer some 12 years ago, the 1983 screw cap was tasted against the cork version. Beyers did not even pick-up the difference! Only editor Fiona McDonald picked up some steeliness.
Being tradionalist, screwcaps are not part of our vision though!

Lets hope they open one soon for a few scribes. Could be very instructive.

Very real – this appears as part of an exhibition at the Kanonkop tasting room. Not available for tasting, as far as I’m aware.

Fake or real? Tasted or not?
