Does the business.

Last night a bottle of Van Loveren Christina van Loveren Sauvignon Blanc 2011, which won double gold (equivalent to a consensus score of 18 out of 20) at this year’s Veritas Awards. When colleague Meryl Weaver and I encountered it for Platter’s 2013, we settled on a rating of 4 Stars (16 out of 20) – it’s a thoroughly satisfying if not very intricate wine. From Darling vineyards, it shows pure fruit, good palate weight and bright acidity. A happy combination of pepper, green bean and lime flavours. Price per bottle: R70.
