First past the post.

First past the post.

So it appears Van Loveren in Robertson was the first to get 2014 wine to market, an email announcing the release of the Sauvignon Blanc from this year’s harvest reaching my inbox on 26 February and a sample arriving on my doorstep shortly afterwards.

Intense guava and pear on the nose and palate. Sweet-fruited and juicy offset by zippy acidity and basically great fun. R40 a bottle from the cellar.

Score: 83/100.
