Yabby Lake Block 6 Chardonnay 2010

Another wine supplied by Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show international judge Tom Carson and much enjoyed this past week was the Block 6 Chardonnay 2010, from Yabby Lake situated on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula in Australia where he is winemaker.

Spontaneously fermented in 500-litre French oak barrels, it was matured until bottling in February 2011. Some burnt matchstick on the nose, before a palate of quite extraordinary fruit concentration offset by racy acidity. Totally rock ‘n roll.

Score: 93/100.
