BLANKBottle DOK 2013

By , 9 March 2015

Not your average "dry white".

Not your average “dry white”.

W.O. Elgin. Made from grapes grown on Doctor Gary van Wyk’s Valley Road farm and hence the name. A blend of mainly Riesling plus Semillon and a little Sauvignon Blanc. Lime and lemon, some cassis typical of Bordeaux-style white blends, some petrol typical of Riesling and a hint of spice. Good fruit concentration, coated acidity and a nicely savoury finish. Has plenty of interest. Price: R89 a bottle.

Score: 90/100.

BLANKbottle winemaker Pieter Walser designs his own labels and was winner of the Grand Prix at the inaugural Wine Label Design Awards.
