Boschendal Heritage Collection

Meticulously crafted.

Boschendal has two new wines “marking the pinnacle of [it’s] portfolio” to be known as the Heritage Collection, tasting notes and ratings below:

Boschendal Grande Syrah 2014
Price: TBC
Grapes from an unirrigated Helderberg vineyard. Matured for 15 months in 300-litre barrels, 40% new. Red and black fruit, lilies and pepper on the nose. Full bodied but balanced – with luscious, sweet fruit and smooth in texture, this is a very polished wine.

Editor’s score: 92/100.

Boschendal Black Angus 2014
Price: TBC
A blend of 66% Syrah, 12% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Sauvigon and 11% Cabernet Franc. Matured in a combination of new and older 300-litre barrels for 18 months. Red and black fruit, a hint of reduction, fresh herbs and a certain meaty quality. The palate is medium bodied with fresh acidity and soft tannins. It’s flavourful but the different components don’t seem to meld as seamlessly as they might.

Editor’s rating: 89/100.
