Celestina 2017

By , 6 November 2019

Grapes for Celestina come from a vineyard situated in Baardskeerdersbos near Elim owned by Caroline Kilian of Caroline’s Fine Wine Cellar and husband Ray. The 2017 vintage is a 50:50 blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, the wine matured for 12 months in old oak.

The wine rated 91 points in the Sauv-Sem Blend/Wooded Sauvignon Blanc Report in November last year, the panel appreciating its richness – the wine is not under-ripe at 14.5% alcohol. A year on, it seems to show its Cape Agulhas origins even more with aromas and flavours of capsicum, lime and white pepper to the fore. Still available at R145 a bottle.
