On Friday night, the third meeting in four years of the Single Bottle Club as founded by Grant Dodd, CEO of Haskell Vineyards with some input from me as to attendees. The idea is that you bring the last bottle of something really good from your cellar and this year, the theme was Bordeaux. Wines were enjoyed over a five-course dinner prepared by chef Harald Bresselschmidt of Aubergine restaurant. Wine of the evening was Margaux 1989 but also marvellous to have first the 2000 and then the 1961 Lynch Bages on the table. The thing about great Bordeaux is that the usual wine dichotomies such as elegance versus power dissolve and you get both in the same glass.
