Doran Vineyards Arya 2015

Ah, yeah!

The Voor Paardeberg technically falls within Paarl but the wines often feel like their spiritual home is more Swartland. Doran Vineyards is a relatively new venture in the ward, first bottling being 2012, but shows signs of soon becoming a hipster favourite, their most recent release being Arya 2015, an unwooded white blend consisting of 57% Chenin Blanc, 22% Grenache Blanc and 21% Roussanne.

On the nose, pear, white peach and maybe a hint of orange. The palate meanwhile possesses good weight and texture (thanks to two months on the lees) but equally the wine is not short of freshness and there is a nice pithy quality to the finish. Drink anytime, anywhere and revel in the fact that it only costs R59 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
