Two new ultra-premium wines from Eikendal have been released, a Chardonnay 2016 and a Cabernet Franc 2015 under the Infused by Earth label. Tasting notes and ratings as follows:
Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay 2016
Grapes from a bushvine vineyard planted on granite in 2010, one hectare in size and a particularly wind affected. Matured for 16 months, 60% in untoasted oak and 40% in granite pots. Top notes of blossom and fynbos before citrus and white peach plus a little yeasty complexity. Relativley light and fresh with pure fruit and lively acidity. Elegant and understated (alcohol: 13%).

Eikendal Infused by Earth Cabernet Franc 2015
Matured in 500-litre barrels, 15% new. Red and black fruit, some floral fragrance and spice. Good depth of fruit on the palate – sweet, smooth textured and intensely flavoured. A slight earthy quality to the finish. Alcohol: 14.5%.
