Yesterday peri-peri chicken espetada and a bottle or three of Gatão Vinho Verde at Roberto’s.  Situated at 44 Long Street, Cape Town, this is the establishment opened by chef Roberto De Carvalho, previously of The Twelve Apostles and the One & Only. There’s a definite Portuguese bent to the establishment but it’s less greasy than those other local bastions of this cuisine, namely Dias Tavern and Vasco de Gama Tavern. The espetada was deliciously hot and spicy, the Vinho Verde was fresh and fruity, cool-drink for grown-ups at only 9% alcohol by volume but not cheap at R120 a bottle, service was friendly but excessively slow.
