Radford Dale AD Pinot Noir 2013
By Christian Eedes, 29 February 2016
The Pinot Noir designated as “AD” in the Radford Dale range is only made in the best vintages and is intended to have long maturation potential.
From Elgin grapes, it’s a one-barrel cuvée exclusive to retailer Wine Cellar. The nose shows a not unpleasant note of reduction before red cherry, wild strawberry and even a little citrus as well as some earthiness. Fruit is extraordinarily pure, acidity fairly crackles through the wine and the tannins are very fine indeed. It’s light but perfectly proportioned and possesses just the right amount of polish. Among the very best in South Africa. Price: R395 a bottle.
#WinemagRating: 92/100.
