One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy.  In conjunction with asset management firm RE:CM, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, I am excited to launch the 10 Year Old Wine Awards.

Producers are invited to submit any red wine from the 2003 vintage for review. There is no limit to how many different wines may be submitted and there is no entry fee.

Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel consisting of me as chairman as well as Jörg Pfützner, internationally trained and certified sommelier, and Nkulu Mkhwanazi, wine entrepreneur.  The winners will be announced at an awards dinner hosted by RE:CM at The Greenhouse Restaurant, Cellars-Hohenort Hotel on Thursday, 14th March 2013 and a full tasting report will appear on this blog.

Conditions of participation are as follows: 1) two bottles for judging purposes and 2) if the wine should place among the top three, then a further 22 bottles to be served at the awards function.

Producers wishing to participate should indicate which wines they will be submitting via an email to christian.eedes@gmail.com and then send these to: 7 Clarendon Road, Mowbray by Friday 1st February.
