Silvermist Organic Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2014
By Christian Eedes, 9 April 2015
It strikes me that there is an increasing gap between mass-market Sauvignon Blanc styled to be as green as possible and premium versions which focus more on palate weight than aromatics.
Silvermist in Constantia bottled a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc in 2014 – total production 3 200 bottles and selling for R162 a pop from Wine Concepts in Newlands – and in line with my theory, pyrazines are well in check.
Peach, a hint of black currant and some white pepper in the background. Rich and thick textured without becoming listless, it’s more of a food wine than an aperitif.
