Springfield Whole Berry Cabinet Sauvignon 2017

Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Whole berry fermentation (grapes left uncrushed) is done to preserve fruit and keep tannins soft and this is precisely how the Whole Berry Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 from Springfield in Robertson comes across.

The nose shows floral perfume, crushed leaves and berries while the palate is pleasantly tutti-frutti, medium-bodied with fine tannins (alcohol: 13.5%). Approximate retail price: R175 a bottle.

Editor’s rating: 87/100.
