Tokara White 2005

Built to last.

The back label of Tokara White 2005, a wooded Sauvignon Blanc, suggested that the wine would cellar well for a further five years from release. It’s now 10 years on from when the wine hit the market and it’s looking fine.

Wine of Origin Stellenbosch, the winemaking involved fermentation and maturation for six months in French oak barrels, 13% new and the rest fifth fill. An appealing rich yellow in colour, the nose shows white peach, granadilla and pineapple with fynbos and more hard-to-describe bottle aged notes in the background. The palate is rich and smooth textured but not unduly heavy or listless. Analysis as follows: Abv 14.5%, RS 2.18g/l TA 7.12g/l, pH 3.14.

#WinemagRating: 92/100.
