Groot Constantia Chardonnay 2013 has been judged overall winner at the 22nd annual Chardonnay du Monde competition, held from the 11 to 14 March in Burgundy. Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chardonnay 2014 also won gold. There were 826 entries from 41 countries in total. Read more here.

    This is an age old situation regarding wine competitions, if you don’t compete, you can’t expect to have your name in lights.

    If I have the correct results, France seems to have 5 Golds in the Top 10.

    Did any of the best French or US Chardonnays get entered into the competition? The top 10 looks very suspicious. I’m happy for Groot Constantia and all, but the top 10 seems to be missing any of the good French stuff, and the complete absence of any California Chardonnays is very suspicious.
